Dear Alabama State Sisters, It honors yet humbles me to serve as your Alabama State President for the 2023-2025 biennium. You each have been an influence and encouragement to me as you epitomize key women educators who reach beyond yourself to make a lasting impact. Our founders’ purposes give us a clear outline of steps to achieve success for our chapter and state organization. Honoring exceptional women educators, impacting education, uniting, and advancing women in education are the pillars of our organization that are as vital today as in 1929 when our foundation was laid. By focusing on and committing to these goals as a priority, we will continue to make a difference and share our passion for DKG. The Texas Twelve and our state founders valued the purposes that directed them, they made those goals a priority, and they applied passion to the task. As they combined these three essentials, they worked as a cohesive unit composed of women of differing backgrounds, interests, and talents. The accomplishments are evidenced by the worldwide sphere of influence that our organization now maintains. We must put the pieces together as differently-skilled women to carry on our founders’ legacy. The purposes of honoring professional women educators, encouraging growth, being informed and united are essential in continuing to impact education and remain an effective force for furthering education. Our foundation of purposes must be a present-day priority. We must act intentionally to continue the legacy of impacting. As we do this, we, like our founders, will exhibit a contagious passion, not only for our organization, but for each of our sisters. A goal for the upcoming biennium will be to continue to provide resources, solutions, encouragement, workshops, and assistance to chapters. As your Alabama state leaders, we want to serve and give support as you seek to grow and connect with educators. We request that you join in and help us achieve this goal by completing the chapter survey that will be available at Fall Board on August 19th at Dalraida Church of Christ in Montgomery. Additionally, we hope you will honor one member with fewer than 8 years by nominating her as your chapter Rosebud before July 15th and bring her with you to Fall Board. The nominees will be recognized, and we will seek their input on ways that our organization can help them personally and professionally in the challenges they face. We can then share this information to the benefit of each chapter. Finally, I request that you show your passion and join this biennium in contributing to the Autism Support of Alabama organization or local autism projects as the Alabama State Organization Project for 2023-2025. This project is dear to my heart as I have grown in understanding through personal experiences with my lovely granddaughter Claire. When the pieces of our “Purpose, Priority, and Passion” unite, imagine the resulting creation. Picture a completed puzzle, a pieced keepsake quilt, a kaleidoscope of beautiful colors, a stained-glass window, a mosaic of intricate design, or a force of sisters working collectively to further education and leave a legacy that blesses. That force is Alabama State Organization DKG!
Thank you for all you do for DKG. Hope to see you at Fall Board. Ann Jones Alabama State Organization President 2023-2025 Putting the Pieces Together: Purpose, Priority, and Passion
